Youth exchanges allow groups of young people from different countries to meet, live together and work on shared projects for short periods. They take place outside the school environment and encourage non-formal learning. Participants can engage in activities such as workshops, exercises, debates, role-plays, outdoor activities and more.
This Youth Exchange topic was EMPathY: Emotional Management - The Path for Youth, which was focusing on emotional management, social oppression and abuse. Before the Youth exchange there was also a training course organized by the same project in September 2018 in the village of Ruganesti, Romania where youth workers, who later came also to the Youth exchange, could learn about this topic before and prepare themselves.
For seven days, young people were doing different activities to learn about emotional management. They learned about emotional management by doing different tasks, having debates, doing simulations, and learning from their trainers Oscar and Attila, who also gave them theoretics about this topic. They also had Intercultural evenings, when all participants could introduce their countries to others – offering food, doing presentations, teaching folklore, and through that, they had an oppurtunity to learn about other cultures.
On the last day of the Youth exchange, they had a flashmob in the city, where they shared nice thoughts to people with cards that had sayings like „You are beautiful“ and „I love you“. They also wore posters on themselves saying nice things to locals.
In conclusion, the week was full of positive emotions, culture and learning.
